Frequently asked questions
Plain answers about getting started, your website, billing, getting paid, booking, your customers, texts and emails, cancelling, and pricing.
Getting started
What is Ruunly, and who is it for?
Ruunly is software for service businesses like lawn care, pool, cleaning, detailing and HVAC. It builds your website, takes bookings, and charges your customers' cards on a schedule. It starts at $19 a month and works for a one-truck owner, with room for a bigger crew on Growth.
Is my kind of business covered?
Ruunly has a ready-made site for 12 trades: car detailing, cleaning, dog walking, hair salon and barber, handyman, HVAC, landscaping, lawn care, nail salon, pool service, pressure washing and window cleaning. If you run another kind of service business, start from the closest one and edit it to fit. Billing, booking and customer tools work the same for any service business.
How long does setup take?
Most owners finish in under an hour. You answer a few questions and AI builds your site, plans and booking form. The rest of the time is Stripe signup, which Stripe walks you through.
Can I try Ruunly before I pay?
Starter does not need a card to start. Pro and Growth need a card and bill the day you sign up. The pricing page always shows what is on offer right now.
Is there a phone app?
Not yet. The iPhone and Android apps are marked coming soon. You can set up from your phone's browser today.
Website
Do I need a website already?
No. You answer a few questions about your business and Ruunly writes your pages from a template for your trade. You can edit any section afterward.
Can I use my own web address?
Yes, on Pro and Growth. Starter uses a Ruunly address.
Will my site show up on Google right away?
Not right away. It needs a real business name, a phone number, at least three services and a picture, and it has to pass a quality check. Nobody can promise a Google ranking.
Plans and billing
How do plans work for my regular customers?
You set a price and a billing schedule once. Your customer signs up for the plan on your website and saves a card. Ruunly charges the card on schedule, so nobody sends invoices by hand.
How often can I bill?
Every week, month, quarter or year. You can also set a count, like every 6 months.
Can a customer pause for the winter?
Yes. The customer pauses from their portal and picks a day to resume. No charges happen while it is paused, and they get a reminder email before it restarts.
What if a customer's card fails?
The customer gets an email with a button to update their card. Stripe may try the charge again by itself. A Payment Recovery page shows who still owes, with a retry button.
Can I take cash or checks?
Yes. You can record cash and check payments in your dashboard. Those carry no Ruunly platform fee.
Getting paid (Stripe)
Do I need a Stripe account?
Not ahead of time. When you turn on payments in Ruunly, a Stripe account is opened for your business and Stripe walks you through it. Card payments go to that account and then to your bank. Ruunly does not hold your money.
When will I get my first payout?
Payouts can be held for 30 days at first. That is the usual case if you connect Stripe during your trial. If you had already paid your first Ruunly invoice before connecting, the hold is 7 days. It does not shorten by itself later, and your dashboard shows the hold your account really has.
What does Stripe charge?
Stripe charges 2.9% plus $0.30 for each card payment, and 0.8% (capped at $5) for bank transfers. That goes to Stripe, not to Ruunly.
Can Stripe hold or freeze my account?
Stripe has its own review rules and can delay, hold or limit payouts. Ruunly cannot change what Stripe decides.
Booking
Can customers book online?
Yes. For each service you pick how it is booked: an exact time, an arrival window, or a request that you approve. The booking widget also works on a website you already have.
Do I have to take a deposit?
No. A deposit is your choice. If you want one, ask for a flat amount or a percentage, and the customer pays through Stripe Checkout.
Your customers
What can my customers do in their portal?
They see their plan and upcoming services, update their card, pause, change plan, or cancel. They do not need to text you for any of it.
Can I move my customers over from another tool?
Yes. Export your customers as a CSV from your old tool and import it into Ruunly. Billing history stays with the old provider, and new charges start on Ruunly.
Do I pay for each person on my crew?
No. Seats are flat per plan: 1 on Starter, 3 on Pro, unlimited on Growth.
Texts and emails
What emails does Ruunly send my customers?
Customers get a receipt when a payment goes through and an email if a card fails. For booking requests they get an email when you receive it and another when you approve or decline.
Can I text my customers?
Pro and Growth include two-way texting with your customers. Starter does not. Today it runs on Ruunly's shared texting number; a number of your own is coming soon.
Do my customers have to agree to texts?
Yes. People must opt in before you send marketing texts, and they can reply STOP at any time. You are responsible for having their consent.
Account and cancelling
How do I cancel, and do I get a refund?
Cancel anytime in your account settings. No call needed. If you cancel within 7 days of your first paid renewal, it is refunded automatically. After that you keep access until the end of the period you paid for, with no refund for that period.
What happens to my website and plans if I cancel?
Your public website, payment links, customer plans and messaging may stop. Ruunly keeps your data for a limited time so you can export it or come back.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can export your customers, invoices, tax reports, timesheets and lead history anytime, even after you cancel.
How do I delete my account?
Follow the steps on the delete account page, or ask by email. If you are the only owner, add another admin first, or ask for the whole workspace to be deleted.
Pricing
How much does Ruunly cost?
Starter is $19 a month, Pro is $59 and Growth is $129. Card processing goes to Stripe on top, and Ruunly takes a small fee on payments it collects for you.
What is the Ruunly fee on payments?
Starter is 2.5%. Pro is 1.5%, capped at $118 a month. Growth is 0.75%, capped at $258 a month. It only applies to online payments collected through Ruunly, so if you collect nothing you pay only your plan price.
Which plan should I pick, and can I change later?
Starter fits one person with up to 25 recurring clients. Pro fits up to 100 clients and 3 seats and adds your own domain. Growth has no client limit and unlimited seats. You can change plans anytime, and the difference is prorated.
Is AI extra?
No. AI is included in every plan with a monthly allowance, and there is no separate AI fee. You can top up if you need more.
Can I pay once a year?
Yes. Pay yearly and it works out to $16, $50 or $109 a month for Starter, Pro and Growth.
