Four things every St. Petersburg operator needs to know before pricing a route, hiring a tech, or launching a website.
St. Petersburg handyman work is split between older residential maintenance (Old Northeast, Crescent Lake, Snell Isle, 1920s-1950s homes with constant small-repair pipeline), downtown condo unit-owner work (drywall, paint, hardware in EDGE District + downtown towers), and vacation-rental property maintenance (St. Pete Beach, guest-reported issue turnaround). Older downtown housing stock generates the steadiest small-repair pipeline.
St. Pete handyman work has standard snowbird peaks (Oct-Nov, April-May) plus year-round vacation-rental small-repair work. Older homes generate constant small-repair demand year-round. Hurricane prep (May-June) and post-storm repair (Aug-Nov) drive seasonal spikes. Quarterly maintenance memberships smooth the calendar.
Ruunly's weather-aware scheduling pulls forecasts for your route neighborhoods and texts every affected client when a rain delay shifts their service. No phone calls from the truck.
St. Petersburg handyman market has moderate competition but younger downtown customers shop online and want convenience. Operators with online booking, automatic billing, and visible reviews charge 15-25% above the trailer-and-Facebook competition without a fight. Vacation-rental property management contracts at St. Pete Beach are the single best source of predictable recurring revenue here.
St. Petersburg handyman hourly rates typically fall in $75 to $115/hour with 1-hour minimum. Quarterly maintenance memberships generally run $250 to $450/quarter. Per-job pricing on common installs commonly runs $120 to $300 per job. Vacation-rental property management contracts often run $300 to $900/month per property.
These are ballpark ranges for Pinellas County, not a priced quote or a published survey. Your pricing should reflect your own cost structure, insurance, and positioning.
Charge hourly for small jobs, flat rate for bigger projects. Ruunly handles both without making you track hours on paper.
Offer "2 hours a month for $99" as a plan. Clients prepay, you do the work, unused hours roll over or expire, your rules.
Clients pick the service, describe the job in their own words, and pick a time. You review the request, confirm, and schedule. No phone tag.
Show off your work. New clients see real projects before they hire you. Trust happens before the first phone call.
Clients on a "$99/mo for 2 hours" plan can see exactly how many hours they've used this month right in their portal, so no one calls arguing about whether that faucet repair counted as 45 minutes or an hour.
Send a Good/Better/Best quote for bigger jobs, like "patch the drywall only" vs. "patch + texture + paint to match" vs. "full wall repair with primer coat", so clients self-select the scope without a phone call.
